LAFW: skineez lingerie

Sporty, cheeky (pun intended), and with a bit of 80's inspiration, Skineez was all about how to wear your underwear as outerwear. It's been a decade or two since I've seen the lace legging and I can't say that I necessarily missed it. However, as the legging, jegging (leggings made to resemble jeans), and skinny jeans have all experienced successful comebacks, who am I to judge whether or not Madonna-inspired designs have a place on the street? Especially in Los Angeles, where there is no such thing as too much of anything.

LAFW: ashlee brooks

Never have I been so pleasantly surprised than I was by Ashlee Brooks collection last night at the Sunset Gower Studios. Each design is heavily influenced by the feminine physique and meant to lure and seduce without being over the top. I genuinely loved each piece!! I have never been so excited about a LBD (Little Black Dress) until now, how the combination of an A-line cut, a short hem, and a high neckline are just so incredibly sexy. Gorgeous backside exposure on almost each ensemble, along with the trending peplum edging at the bottom of the jackets. The 60's inspired black shift layered over a mauve blouse is absolutely London and appears cape-like from the back. Lots of sheers and movement in this collection, and I must get my hands on a pair of those draping trousers... I love the way it looks with the double strap belt. Of course, the navy coat buttoned all the way up is another Brit inspiration and I must have that as well!

The fabulous finale was the leather bustier chocolate-themed gown with a low back. Angelina Jolie would be sporting this had she seen it- total leg exposure happening here and I love it. Since I've never been much of an exposed decollage kind of girl, preferring rather to wear a short skirt, this collection hit the nail on the head for me.

LAFW: betsy johnson s/12

Flirty, punchy, and a breath of teenage exuberance. Betsy Johnson's spring collection had the models smirking, winking, and showing off their come-hither ensembles. I am head over heels for the stockings and knee socks!! I had seen a girl from NYFW wearing a very prim outfit but when I saw her legs covered in a 1950's garter design, it was pure sensationalism. My absolute favorite look from this collection is the first photo but totally into the photo just above. When she walked away and I saw the lace-up design on her nylons my mouth fell open.

p.s. Experimenting with color pigments in post. Do you favor au natural or do you like a more punched up, NYLON-eque editorial look? (i.e. photo #7 the girl w the red knee high socks)

Tonight's show is Ashlee Brooks at Sunset Studios... can't wait to see another spring collection!
